Dr. David Strong is the founder of University Canada West and was its first president.
He is highly regarded in his fields of geochemical, petrological and Metallogenic Sciences. He taught and conducted his own research and consulted in these fields.
Between 1990-2000, he was the president and vice-chancellor of the University of Victoria serving for two terms. He was also a professor in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences.
Dr. Strong sits on numerous different boards of corporations and educational councils. Also earning prestigious awards and accolades like a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Honorary Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada, Canadian Institute of Mining Distinguished Service Award, and a Steacie Memorial Fellowship.
Dr. David Strong has also received honorary doctorates from Memorial University of Newfoundland and St. Francis Xavier University. He currently resides in Victoria.
